Cowboys Run for 303 Yards in 35-8 Win over Bulldogs

Breckenridge evened their season record at 2-2 with a 35-8 road win over Ottertail Central in Battle Lake.  The Cowboys led 21-0 at the half, 21-8 after three quarters and secured the win with a fourteen point fourth quarter.

With 6:26 left in the first quarter Chris Nieto scored on a 13 yard run and Cooper Yaggie kicked the extra point.  After a Jack Aigner interception gave the ball to the Cowboys at the eight yard line Breckenridge went 92 yards in seven plays, scoring on a 45 yard run by Jacob Vizenor with 9:46 left in the first half.  As time ran out in the half Yaggie connected with Jace Jensen on a 30 yard touchdown pass.  Yaggie’s two extra-point kicks put the score at 21-0, Cowboys.

In the third quarter OTC turned a fumble recovery by Connor Drake into a twelve-play, 48-yard scoring drive with quarterback Tanner Arndt scoring on a 3 yard run.  Arndt also scored on the two-point conversion run, bringing the Bulldogs to within 13 points at 21-8.

Two touchdown runs by Nieto (16, 15) in the fourth quarter, along with two more PAT kicks by Yaggie pushed the final score to 35-8.

Daniel Erlandson led the Cowboys with 109 yards on 15 carries.  Nieto had 88 yards on 12 carries and Vizenor ran for 78 yards on 6 carries.  Cooper Yaggie completed 4-of-6 passes for 74 yards and Tyson Piechowski caught three passes for 44 yards.  Breckenridge had 303 rushing yards and passed for 74 more, giving them 377 total yards of offense.

The Bulldogs were led by Isaac Fisher with 69 yards on 133 attempts.  Arndt was 6-for-13 for 41 yards and Brennen Amundson caught 3 passes for 22 yards.  OTC had 119 rushing yards and 41 yards receiving for a total of 160 yards.

Breckenridge will play host to Barnesville on Friday, September 27 and OTC will play West Central Area/Ashby at Henning.
