John Vall shot a 78, including a pair of Eagles.  Trevor Dalbec (81), Grant Inniger (83) and Carter Justesen (89) rounded out the scoring for M State.

“As a team it was an up and down day as we put up some big numbers early, but then settled in much better as the round progressed,” said M State Head Coach Jason Retzlaff.  “Wyatt was outstanding today and was rewarded with medalist honors.  His putting was tremendous on some very fast and difficult greens.  John finished strong as well.  He had two eagles in his round which is something that you rarely see happen.  We hope to play a more consistent 18 holes as a team on Saturday and Sunday at the St. John’s Invite.  It will be the largest field our program has ever competed in with 120 players and a great challenge for our players.”

Round one is at Greystone Golf Course in Sauk Centre and round two is Sunday at BlackBerry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell.

For the Spartan Women, Lexi Poyzer shot a 110 and Carley Baumann a 119.  Their next competition will be at the Valley City Invite on Tuesday, October 1.
