The Pelican Rapids volleyball team traveled to Perham for a Heart O’ Lakes Conference battle on Thursday.  Perham swept past the Vikings 25-21, 25-14, 25-20.

“The Yellowjackets served very aggressive all night to give the Vikings some trouble getting our offense in system,” commented Head Coach Heidi Isaman of the Vikings.  “Setters Greta Tollefson and Sophia Paulson did a great job of running down the ball and trying to get as many hittable balls as possible but not getting ourselves in system enough hurt us to be able to run our offense liked we wanted to tonight.  Riley Berg and Ryley Paulson played great back row defense tonight digging up a lot of what Perham was firing at us but the Vikings spent too much time tonight playing defense and not enough time getting our offense in a rhythm.  The Vikings fought so hard especially in set 3 to keep the ball alive but got caught short each set.”

Stat leaders for Pelican Rapids were Tollefson (7 kills, 7 set assists, 3 digs, 1 block, 1 ace), Berg (20 digs, 1 ace), Paulson (4 kills, 17 digs, 1 block), Anna Stephenson (19 digs, 3 kills), JeNae Femling (3 kills), Allie Haiby (6 digs) and Sophia Paulson (5 digs, 4 set assists).
