Hillcrest Lutheran Academy won a Little Eight Conference volleyball match from Ashby on Thursday night, recording a 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16) victory over the Arrows.

“I am so proud of the girls tonight for a number of reasons,” stated Head Coach Debi Foss of the Comets.  “It was so much better than Tuesday and we played together as a team.  It was also great to see everyone have opportunities offensively throughout the match and to see our blocking game improve.  We struggled at the beginning of the third set, allowing Ashby to take an early lead.  The girls came out committed and determined to win the fourth set.”

Hillcrest was led by Mackenzie Foss (9 kills, 20 digs, 4 ace serves, 8 service points), Molly McGuire (6 kills), Kate Peterson (12 service points), Olivia Stanton (3 ace serves, 15 service points, 11 set assists), Audra Ewan (11 set assists, 7 service points), Madi Foss (5 kills, 10 digs, 5 service points), Amanda DeKok (2 kills, 1 block kill, 7 service points), Natalie Zwiers (2 kills, 4 block kills) and Hope Adams (3 kills, 3 block kills).

“We head into a very busy week of volleyball, beginning with a tournament in Hancock on Saturday,” added Coach Foss.
