The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy Boys Soccer Team battled to a 2-2 tie Tuesday at the David Brown Field in Pelican Rapids.

Pelican Rapids scored early, just three minutes into the contest, off a cross from the right side into the small box that was easily tapped in.  At 15 minutes, Vetle Myntevik, launched a bullet from 40 yards for the Comets, tying the score.  At 29 minutes, Kristian Maestad flipped the ball over the top of the Pelican Keeper, who came out to challenge Kristian, ending all scoring for the half with the Comets up a goal.  The Vikings tied the score at 68 minutes which sent the game into a scoreless OT.

Senior Captain and keeper, Zajen McArton, played an excellent game stopping 16 shots on goal, including an assist on the Comet second goal (his second of the season).  Freshman Cole Peterson came out of the game midway through the first half with a concussion.

“The Comets played hard today,” commented Head Coach Rod Jensen.  “The heat really took its toll on our small squad, especially the Norskies!  Pelican Rapids is a good team with many skilled players.  I am proud of our efforts today and the game results.”

The Comets now 3-2-1 take on Little Falls on Saturday at home, during a double header with the Lady Comets.
