Otter Girls Compete at 7th and 8th Grade Swim Meet in Alexandria

Brainerd won the 7th and 8th Grade Alexandria Girls Swimming and Diving Invitational on Saturday, scoring 485 points.  Sartell-St. Stephen was second with 366.5, followed by Rocori (284.5), Bemidji (274), Sauk Rapids-Rice (239), Little Falls (225), Fergus Falls (211) and Alexandria (85).

Highlights for the Otters included a 4 second time drop by the 200 medley relay team of Addison Nordahl, Alaina Bailly, Siiri Smestad, and Anna Schroeder.

In the 200 Yard Freestyle Jerzie Smith dropped 15 seconds and Aisling Cox dropped 9 seconds.

In the 100 IM Raquel Prody dropped 4 seconds, while Mayah Fear and Annie Mayer both dropped 5 seconds.

In the 50 Free Brooklyn Walden dropped 6 seconds, Kaylee Papon dropped 5 seconds, Addison Nordahl dropped 3 seconds, AudrieAnne Nadgwick dropped 4 seconds and Anna Schroeder dropped 3 seconds.
The divers did a great job,” said Head Coach Trina Weisel.  “Mayah Fear, Elyse Adams, and Abigail Gronwald all performed well on the board.”

In the 50 Butterfly Annie Mayer dropped 5 seconds, Karlie Peterson dropped 3 seconds and Daphnie Nadgwick dropped 4 seconds.

The 200 freestyle relay of Brooklyn Walden, Nora Lien, Kaylee Papon, and AudrieAnne Nadgwick dropped 18 seconds in their relay.

In the 100 Backstroke Addison Nordahl, Raquel Prody and Karlie Peterson scored 1, 2, 3 and all dropped 4 seconds.

In the 100 Breaststroke Nora Lien dropped 6 seconds and Aisling Cox dropped 2 seconds.

“Overall it was a very fun meet and a very exciting opportunity for our middle school swimmers,” said Coach Weisel. “It was really fun to watch their reactions to their new times and to see the excitement as they cheered on their fellow swimmers. This was a great opportunity to start the season off and the swimmers are really looking forward to future meets and ways to improve their events.”
