Knights Score Late to Remain Unbeaten

The West Central Area/Ashby football team improved their season record to 3-0 with a 14-6 road win in Crookston on Friday night.

The Knights gave up their first points of the season in the first quarter when Leyton Salentine ran for 25 yards and a touchdown with 9:42 left in the quarter.

With 1:12 left in the first half the Knights pulled even when Jaden Norby scored on a six yard run.

The game remained tied until Norby took the ball in from the one yard line with just fifteen seconds left in the game.  Norby also scored the two point conversion, putting the final at 14-6.

The Knights had 209 yards (124 rushing, 85 passing) of offense.  Norby completed 6-of-10 passes for 85 yards and ran for 83 yards on 19 carries.  Gage Staples was the leading receiver, hauling in three passes for 51 yards.

Braden Overson (6 solo tackles, INT), Tyler Stone (4 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, Sack), Vinny Finkelson (4 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle) and Connor Nadgwick (4 solo tackles, INT) led the defensive effort.  Staples also intercepted a pass for the Knights.

Salentine led Crookston with 126 yards on 16 carries.
