Rothsay traveled to Battle Lake Thursday night for a Little Eight Conference volleyball match which the Tigers won in 4 sets (25-14, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19).

“The Tigers had a great night of finding the court on offense tonight,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Kim Braaten. “We were careful where we placed the ball and that takes quite a bit of skill, especially from such a young team. We also went on quite a few runs due to serving tonight. Summer Wigdahl, Jenna Fabre, and Madison Tillman really did a nice job of that. Kenadi Carlsrud and Jenna Fabre really took control of the ball and were strong offensively on the net. We went through different rotations tonight and I’m very proud of how the girls adjusted and really came together as a team. Together, we were able to pull out a win tonight. Battle Lake is a very scrappy team and has great defense as well.”

Stat leaders for the Tigers were Jenna Fabre (13 kills, 1 assist, 5 digs), Jayna Gronewald (6 kills, 5 aces, 17 assists, 1 dig), Kenadi Carslrud (5 kills, 3 aces, 3 blocks, 1 dig) and Madison Tillman (Served 100% with 3 aces serves, 1 block, 1 assist).

Battle Lake was led by Grace VanErp (7 kills, 12 digs), Makenna Tysdal (15 digs) and Kate Christensen (12 set assists).

“Rothsay controlled the tempo of the match tonight and we struggled to find consistent rhythm,” said Battle Lake Head Coach Jenny Roisum.  “The Tigers played the more consistent match tonight.”

The Battlers will host Henning on Tuesday night.
