Perham claimed the Lucky Lindy Boys Cross Country Invitational on Thursday in Little Falls, scoring 69 points in the process.  Second place went to Bemidji (86) and third place to Staples-Motley (107).  They were followed by St. Cloud Apollo (128), Moorhead (131), Laguna Beach (145), GNK (159), Alexandria (171), St. Cloud Cathedral (240) and Sartell (242).  Fergus Falls was sixteenth with 454 points.

The first race was the boys JV, but the race was called off 4 minutes in due to lightning.  The schools took their teams to their buses until there was 30 minutes of no lightning.  An hour later the officials opened the course again, running all Boys at once followed by all Girls 2 minutes later.  The large field and large amounts of rain made the course soft, slippery and muddy.

"So the boys team came into the Lucky Lindy fresh off a big win at the Moorhead Twilight, but the biggest challenge that every team faced was not each other, but the weather," said Perham Head Coach Jeff Morris. "The meet started with the Junior High races cancelled. The first race of the day was the boys JV which started, but due to thunder and lightning was stopped 800 meters in. All the runners reported back to the bus where we waited for 45 minutes. Meet officials decided to combine all the races with girls staggered just 2 minutes behind the boys. The JV runners joined the varsity boys in one of the most memorable Lucky Lindy's ever. The Perham boys running without #1 runner Brandon O'Hara who is recovering from a 12 hour stomach bug stepped up big."

Emmet Anderson of Staples-Motley won the individual title with a time of 16:03.3 and Geno Uhrbom of GNK was runner-up (16:06.5).  Third place went to Hunter Klimek (16:07.5) of Staples-Motley.  Logan Brooks (16:20.4) of Laguna Beach was fourth, followed by Jakob McCleary (16:27.4) of Perham, Gage Mostad (16:37.6) of Bemidji, Mateo Bianchi (16:38.9) of Laguna Beach, Bailey Evenson (16:53.1) of Perham, Evan Myran (16:56.6) of Moorhead and Nathan Alto (16:58.4) of Bemidji.

“On the boys side, overall a very commendable day considering the mental yo-yo, they started aggressive and ran as a team,” said Fergus Falls Coach Niki Welde. “Conrad Lobb (18:48.2) led the way in 75th place, with teammate Joe Eberle (18:50.2) placing right behind him, 77th. Luke Schroeder (19:19.8) had a solid race and Kolsen Papon (19:46.6) had a nice time drop for the season. Zach Lobb (20:19.9) pushed in our scoring with a nice personal best. Mason Olson (20:28.6) ran an impressive race and Tucker Rowlan (21:15.7) sprinted in to the finish and to his own surprise a very nice time drop.”
