Other Spartan scores included a 75 from Wyatt Blomseth, a 79 from John Vall and an 81 from Grant Inniger.

Top scores for Southwest Tech included a 76 from Bennett Reese, a 78 from Mike MacKinnon and a 79 from Ethan Cook.

“It was an enjoyable day of golf against another excellent golf program in Southwest Tech,” commented M State Head Coach Jason Retzlaff.  “One of the nines we played at Meadow Green was shorter so that helped scoring significantly, but it was a very unique layout that forced the players to think about where they wanted to place the ball the on some tee shots.  Carter Justesen was outstanding today shooting under par.  He didn’t have a lot of stress out there and picked up where he left off after a great season last year.  Trevor Dalbec also played extremely well and is someone who we know has the talent to be a very good player for us.  Overall, it was a nice start and we look forward to building from it at home this weekend against a number of four year colleges.”

The Spartan Invitational begins with a shotgun start at noon on Saturday at Pebble Lake Golf Course in Fergus Falls.  The event will included men and women from Concordia, Valley City State and UM-Morris.
