“We had a phenomenal night of playing as a team and really finding open areas on the court,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Kim Braaten. “We struggled to find our game in set one, but the girls knew what needed to be fixed and worked on to be successful in the next sets. I’m privileged to have a team that has the ambition and work ethic to make changes and want what is best for our whole team. Jenna Fabre (7 aces, 8 kills, 1 block, 2 assists) had an amazing game on the net and in the back row. She is very steady and is a true go-getter on the court. With her, we had great saves by our setter Jayna Gronewal (6 kills, 19 assists). She was all over the place tonight helping our team. She is the glue to our team and it really showed tonight. At the net, we had our middles who rocked it out as well. Both Summer Wigdahl (2 aces, 3 kills, 8 digs) and Kenadi Carlsrud (1 ace, 7 kills, 5 blocks) had some very nice attacks as well as passing in the back row. Our team is getting stronger despite some last minute changes in the few days, but we are excited to get to a practice tomorrow.”

Grace Lider and Lilly Wheelright each added 4 kills and a block for the Tigers.

Hope Adams led the Comets with 6 kills.  Molly McGuire, Marie Ruud and Olivia Stanton had 5 kills each, and Madi Foss finished with 4 kills and 18 digs.  Amanda Dekok led with 15 serving points and 3 ace serves, while Mackenzie Foss had 8 service points with 2 ace serves and 29 digs. Maria Ruud had 10 digs.  Audra Ewan had 13 set assists and Olivia Stanton had 12

“We started the night out playing strong and in a good rhythm for the first set,” commented Hillcrest Head Coach Debi Foss. “Then we struggled at the start of the second set and were down 1-11. We inched our way back into the game and had it down to a 3 point difference half way through the set but couldn’t close the gap. The Tigers had a strong and consistent attack at us most of the night and we just couldn’t put the ball down on the other side of the net when we needed to.”

The Comets next match isn’t until next Tuesday when they will travel to Brandon-Evansville.
