The Fergus Falls girls’ tennis team traveled to St. Cloud Apollo to take on the Apollo/Sauk Rapids-Rice Collision on Tuesday. The Collision came out on top 4-3 in a nail biter.

The Otters second doubles duo of Elissa Lee and Mackenzie Krava played a two hour monster match against an athletic team from Apollo. “Elissa and Mac did a nice job of finishing points at the net today and keeping our groundies clean on their way to a 6-4, 7-6(5) win,” noted Head Coach Jamie Lill.  “Third doubles duo of Elizabeth Houge and Mia Marsh also played an aggressive match tonight. They started in a tight match, but really pulled away in the second set winning 6-3, 6-0. Elizabeth and Mia were awesome at the net tonight.  They took care of finishing points and keeping their opponents off the net and deep in the court.”

Ellie Colbeck earned the other Otter point, winning routinely 6-0, 6-1.

The tightest match of the night belonged to Ava Weber at fourth singles. Ava battled back and forth with a tough baseliner all the way to the third set tie break. “Ava was tough out there tonight. She hung around for over two and a half hours in a highly competitive match. Although it didn’t turn out as we would have scripted it, it was a great match at 6-4, 6-7(3), 7-6(3).  Nothing to hang her head about at all and great court experience for her moving forward,” said Coach Lill.
