M State traveled to Moorhead on Sunday and faced the Concordia JV team in a college football game.  The Cobbers won the game by the final score of 6-2.

Concordia scored on a 5-yard run by John Simon with 1:37 to play in the third quarter.  The two-point conversion attempt was intercepted by Dacari Dickens of the Spartans.  Dickens returned the interception all the way to the end zone for two points.

“With injuries to three of our five sophomores some guys had to step up and play new positions and bigger roles than normal,” said Head Coach Cory Miller of M State.  “The guys competed extremely hard and the defense played very disciplined and tackled extremely well.  Each week we continue to improve in different areas but still lack the focus and composure needed and that ends up ruining scoring chances and the ability to extend drives.”

Nazurus Richardson led M State with 27 rushing yards on 11 carries.  Elijah Harris ran for 23 yards on his only carry of the day.  Joel Dorjuste completed 3-of-7 passes for 43 yards and leading receiver Joshua Yahsha hauled in two passes for 39 yards.

Rothsay High School graduate Wyatt Curtis assisted on a tackle, ran for 2 yards and had 10 yards receiving for the Cobber JV squad.

Defensive leaders for the Spartans were Moises Duran (6 solo tackles. 1 assisted tackle), Kyangelo Robinson (5 solo tackles, 1 assisted tackle), Joshua Mitchell (5 solo tackles) and Devaughn Prince (INT).
