Yellowjackets Dominate Prowlers

The Perham Yellowjackets performed at an extremely high level offensively on Friday night, recording 544 total yards, 381 rushing yards, 163 passing yards and 24 first downs on the way to a 61-7 win over Thief River Falls.  The Prowlers had only 232 yards and 12 first downs.

Six different players found the end zone for the Yellowjackets, beginning with a five yard run by Dawson Kellogg at 6:40 of the first quarter.  Colton Hackel then hit Noah Rooney with a two-point conversion pass, giving Perham an 8-0 lead.  Nest it was Hackel who scored on a five yard run, making it a 14-0 lead for Perham with 1:24 left in the first quarter.

Finn Diggins scored on a 16 yard run and then added the two-point conversion at 1:57 of the second quarter to give Perham a 22-0 lead.  They increased the lead to 30-22 when Maddux Kovash hauled in a 33 yard pass from Hackel with time expiring.  Rooney caught the two-point conversion pass from Hackel which gave Perham a halftime lead of 30-0.

Diggins scored on a 2-yard run and Kellogg carried the ball in for the two-point conversion at 11:06 of the third and the Yellowjackets built their lead to 38-0.  Hackel made it 45-0 with a 10 yard run and a PAT kick at 1:51 of the third.

The fourth quarter saw Aaron Bruggeman get Thief River Falls on the board when he caught a 23 yard pass from Brevyn LingenSimon Thoemke booted the extra point kick.  Perham finished with a pair of fourth quarter scores when Josh Peterson ran the ball in from the 20 yard line, followed by a Brian Ramos two-point run at 8:21, and a 4 yard run and two-point conversion run by Jordan Muench with 4:15 to play.

Perham was led by Hackel with 154 rushing yards on 14 carries and Peterson with 99 yards on 5 attempts.  Hackel also completed 12-of-17 passes for 163 yards.  Rooney caught five passes for 57 yards and Diggins hauled in four passes for 60 yards.

Defensive leaders were Isaac VanWatermulen (8 tackles, 1 sack), Dylan Lysne (7 tackles, INT), Caleb Lung (3 tackles, 1 sack) and Gabe Bellefeuille (3 tackles, INT).
