The Brandon-Evansville volleyball team traveled to Rothsay on Thursday night and returned home with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 26-24) victory over the Tigers.

“Tonight we had our first road match of the year in Rothsay,” said Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kelly Olson. “We did a few things better tonight than on Tuesday. Focus was one of those things and we saw some good play off the bench with serving and defensive play. I thought we did a better job in serve receive and transition play in the front row. We made less unforced errors. All our hitters were efficient in their attacks as well as aggressive. Serving, although not where we want to be, was much better. We had numerous girls have nice runs from the serving line. Haddey Zastrow (15/16 serving) finished off the first set with and good run, and Boris Jacobson did a great job coming in to serve in the tight third set.  The players did a good job in serve receive and our offense production was pretty good. Overall it was a good effort tonight against a resilient Rothsay team. Down 0-2, they kept coming at us. We needed to refocus what we do tonight on the court. I think we took a step in the right direction.”

Leading the Chargers were Bailey Schaefer (11 kills), Mikenna Pattrin (8 kills, 4 ace serves), Korrie Randt (27 set assists, 1 ace) and Brittany Korkowski (3 aces, 4 kills, 4 digs).

The Chargers have a tournament in Browerville this weekend with New York Mills, Browerville, and CGB in pool play.

“Both teams brought a lot of effort to the court and it was a great three games,” commented Rothsay Head Coach Kim Braaten. “We showed a lot of improvement from Tuesday against Parkers, but we still have things to work on. These girls are great teammates and have amazing energy that every coach would be more than happy to have on their team. I’m very grateful for that and I’m excited to keep working on strengthening our team.”

The Tigers were led by Jenna Fabre (7 kills, 7 digs), Jayna Gronewold (4 kills, 15 set assists, 2 ace serves), Kenadi Carlsrud (5 kills, 5 digs, 2 ace serves) and Summer Wigdahl (4 kills, 2 digs, 1 ace serve).  Top servers were Fabre (9/9), Wigdahl (8/9) and Grace Lider (9/11).
