In set one, Amber Frigaard got the Rockets off to a good start, serving 10 straight points that included 4 aces. “As a team, we were able to maintain consistent play and didn't give up unforced errors,” said Underwood Head Coach Diane Ross.
In set 2 Shaynah Smith had a good string of serves, scoring 7 points which included 3 ace serves. Ally Johnson was aggressive at the net in that set, getting 3 kills and a stuff block.
“In set 3, our offense got going, as we hit a team kill percentage of .500 getting 15 kills on 28 attempts with only 1 error,” reported Coach Ross. “I was happy with our performance tonight. I thought our setter/hitter timing was good and our serve receive went well.”
Reese Richards had 13 set assists and Amber Frigaard had 16. Leading the attack was Ally Johnson with 9 kills, while Kayla Rocholl, Josey Bugbee, and Brooke Hovland each added 5, and Shaynah Smith 4. Defensively, Brianna Evavold and Brooke Hovland each got 7 digs, while Ally Johnson added 4 stuff blocks.
The Rockets will play Hillcrest in their next match on Thursday. The venue has been changed to Underwood.
