The Cardinals got on the board at 18:17 of the first half on a beautiful goal by senior midfielder Sean Haak. Thirteen seconds later sophomore Lucas Haarstad put Alexandria ahead, 2-0.
“We played poorly the first half,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Steven Ness. “Not sure if it was the weather or us playing a very good and disciplined Alexandria team. We created chances, but couldn't capitalize and we haven't had that happen yet this season. We came out firing the second half but couldn't get one in the net. Ian Stumbo our goalie made some big saves for us. We learned what we need to do to step up our game and I look forward to our next practice.”
The Otters (2-1) will host Melrose at noon on Friday, while Alexandria plays host to Rocori on Thursday.
