Five players with extensive varsity playing experience return for a Fergus Falls girls soccer team that said good-bye to eleven seniors last spring.

Goalkeeper Svea Smedstad returns, along with Kenzy Braeger, Piper Andrews, Hope Goepferd and Ellie Anderson.

Maddie Boyd, Haley Kugler, Desiree Maack, Talia Nelson, Kiara Grady, Rylyn Krein, Megan Ewert and Maddie Hulter are all expected to step in and contribute at the varsity level.

“We want to improve throughout the season and be playing our best soccer in October,” said Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “In order to do that, we need to experiment with different lineup combinations and find where each player best fits into our formation.  Our goal is to the aggressor on 50/50 balls and play physical regardless of who we play.”

Jurgens, who will be assisted by Paul Hicks, Sara Delaney and Karlee Kosak, says Bemidji, Sartell, St. Cloud Apollo, Alexandria and East Grand Forks will be the top teams in Section 8A, while Brainerd, Sartell, Apollo and Alexandria are the teams to beat in the Central Lakes Conference.
