Missy Foslien takes over as Head Coach of the West Central Area volleyball team and returns eight letter winners from the Knights 10-12 season a year ago.  They will need to replace Kaitlyn Sanstead (Libero) and Morgan Woodle (Outside Hitter) in their varsity rotation, but have a solid nucleus of returning players and newcomers who will be fighting for court time.

Returning letter winners include seniors Hailey Bennett (S/OH), Kaleigh Anderson (L/OH/S), Kaylyn Ulrich (OH/RSH/DS), Ellie Herman (MH) and Savannah Swenson (S/H), juniors Emma Swenson (DS) and Holly Gilsdorf (S/H), and sophomore Liz Rustan (MH).

Varsity newcomers are senior Hannah Holman (OH), juniors Morgan Stark (OH) and Brooke Anderson (OH), and sophomore Halle Foslien (MH).

“We will be pretty scrappy this year and quick,” said Foslien.  “I think we will cover the floor well.  We don’t have a lot of height, but if we can get a touch on the block it will help tremendously.  We are looking to develop power hitters!  We need that ‘go to’ hitter that will be our playmaker.  If we could build on that we will be okay.”

Foslien will be assisted by Naomi Moerke (JV) and Lauren Funk (C Team).

As for favorites, Foslien says New York Mills and CGB top the list in Section 6A, with CGB and Wheaton the top teams in the Pheasant Conference.
