The Battle Lake volleyball team has some holes to fill after losing seven seniors to graduation, including 3-time all-conference hitter Allison Marso and All-Conference Honorable Mention players Hayle Knudson and Hailey Smith. Reice Amundson, Abby Bellig, Ericka Beiderman and Brianna Carter-Fisher also graduated. Head Coach Jennifer Roisum is in her sixteenth year and will once again be assisted by Heather Akerman.
The Battlers return five letter winners from their 9-16 squad of a year ago. They are seniors Maleah Hull (Hitter), Makenna Tysdal (Libero) and Halie Johnson (Hitter), junior Kate Christensen (Hitter) and sophomore Grace VanErp (Setter).
Rounding out the squad will be juniors Leah Koltes, Hannah Cory, Dani Anderson, Kya Ambuel, and sophomores Ady Tysdal and Andrea Schmidt.
“We only have five returning players with two starter from last season,” said Coach Roisum. “We have experience in our five returners but there will be opportunities for players in many positions. This should be a fun season with many open spots for players to work towards. The Battlers are excited to improve with each match and challenge the teams of the Little 8 Conference. Once again Brandon-Evansville and Underwood look like the top teams in the conference. Our section is tough and we hope by the time the tournament comes around we will be ready to challenge the section teams.”
