The Perham football team made a deep run into the 3A State playoffs in 2018, claiming the Section 8AAA title and playing in the state semifinals before seeing their season come to a close with a final record of 9-3.  There are some key holes to fill, but the cupboard is definitely not bare for the Yellowjackets as they prepare for the 2019 kick-off.

The loss of quarterback Jenson Beachy (MSUM), Ty Moser (NDSU-Wrestling), Zach Peterson (Augustana-Wrestling), Colton Kostynick and Josh Jeziorski will be felt, but eight players with starting experience return.  They are seniors Titus Mycke (OL/DL), Rowdy Lindquist (OL/DL), Dom Gottwalt (OL/DL) and Dawson Kellogg (DL/FB), juniors Finn Diggins (QB/TE/DL), Noah Rooney (WR/DB) and Caleb Lung (DL/OL) and sophomore Colton Hackel (QB/DB/WR).

Key newcomers for Perham will be seniors Noah Moulzof (C/LB), Carter Aakre (WR/DB) and Andrew Jacobson (RB/LB), and sophomore Brian Ramos (RB/LB).

Head Coach Kyle Knutson is in his sixth year at the helm.  He will be assisted by Ryan Beachy, James Mulcahy, John MeEachran, Jesse Hein, Grant Dirkhising, Aron Velde, Ty Doll and Paul Sturdevant.

Knutson says Detroit Lakes is the top team in the Midwest Red Conference, while Pequot Lakes and Fergus Falls are top contenders in Section 8AAA.
