Jaclyn Hoeper begins her first year as head coach of the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta/West Central Area girls tennis team by inheriting an experience group of varsity athletes.  Their one loss to graduation will definitely be felt though as they enter the season without their number one singles player of a year ago, Lea Asmus.

Seniors Hannah Wutzke, Ryanne Long and Ireland Winter, juniors Katelyn Wehking, Katie Messner and Greta Hentges, and sophomores Abbigail Athey, Kassidy Girard and Lakia Manska are returning letter winners.  Wutzke, Long and Megan Lindahl will serve as captains.

“We do return most of our varsity roster from last year, which is a good thing,” noted Coach Hoeper.  “Most of these girls have had at least three years of experience of playing at the varsity level.  They have been putting in a lot of work during the off-season and it shows in the improvement of their skills.  We have some tough teams in our section, but these girls are ready to give it their all.”

Hoeper sees Osakis and Minnewaska Area as top contenders in the West Central Conference and Section 6A.

Kelly White will serve as JV coach.
