The volleyball team at Minnesota State-Fergus Falls took an unconventional road trip early in their 2019 preseason routine.

The Spartans cleaned up a section of highway near Fergus Falls as a part of their team-building efforts and the Adopt-a-Highway program. Head coach Abby Crowser's squad knows a thing or two about building good teams, as they were one of several MCAC volleyball programs in the national NJCAA Top 20 rankings througout last year.

MSFF finished 19-8 overall in 2018 and was 8-4 in the MCAC Southern Division.  The Spartans concluded their run in the NJCAA Region XIIIA championship, falling 3-1 to host Rochester CTC.  They will open up their 2019 season on Wednesday, August 21 with a scrimmage at the University of Minnesota-Morris, a 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament team led by former Ridgewater College coach Joe Sussenguth.  The Spartans will have their first regular season contest when they take part in the 2019 MCAC Crossover Tournament on August 23-24, hosted by fellow MCAC Southern Division power St. Cloud Technical & Community College.
