The Rothsay Tigers were 3-7 on the gridiron last fall with a team that featured a pair of 1,000 yard rushers.  Head Coach Joshua Nordick, entering his fourth year, will be assisted by Joel Meyer and Kyle Wagers.

Jacob Christ will be a member of the NDSCS college football team in Wahpeton this year.  Other players lost to graduation include Parker Keep, Braden Moen, Tanner Keep and Thomas Webster.

“We continued to build the program last year and the highlight of the season had to be the fact that we were able to host and win a playoff game in Rothsay,” said Coach Nordick.  We are very young this year with only three seniors and three juniors, but we have some athletes that can make plays.  Depth might be an issue as we will rely on many players who haven’t played that much varsity football.”

Returning starters include junior Colby Larson (LB/RB) and senior Ethan Curtis (LB/RB) who will carry the load for the Tigers, and linemen Karsyn Zilmer (JR) and Nick Weizorek (SR).

“New quarterback Tanner Heier will bring some balance to the offense and senior Noah Fiedler switched from QB to a hybrid receiver and gives us some senior leadership on the field as well,” commented Nordick.

Verndale and Brandon-Evansville are Nordick’s picks to be at the top of the District and the front runners in Section 4 of 9-man.
