The Fergus Falls girls basketball team played four games in the Sweet 16 Tournament which was held over the weekend at St. Benedict’s College.  The Otters lost their first game to Lakeville North, 66-64, beat Mankato East 51-38 in game two, lost the third game to Waconia, 57-49, and then recorded a 52-31 win over Minnehaha Academy.

The tournament was won by Hopkins as they defeated Wayzata in the championship game.

“This was a great way to end our summer season of hoops,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Brad Strand.  “The team worked hard on fundamentals and skills throughout the summer early in the mornings and they participated in a few tournaments in June and July.  The community will enjoy watching this year’s team this winter.  Go Otters!”

Team members for the Sweet 16 included: Sabrina Fronning, Carlie Meis, Olivia Kaliher, Gretchen Davis, Andreya Lockett, Gracee Albertson, McKenzy Braeger, Paige Pearson, Logan Strom, Katie Strommen, Anna Anderson, Hannah Polejewski, and Ellie Colbeck.

The team was coached by Bailey Strand and assisted on day 1 by Mackenzie Strand and day 2 by Katelyn Strand.
