I’m really happy with the way we played. Not so happy with the way the results turned out, but that’s the game of baseball,” Breckenridge coach Kevin Hiedeman said. “We’ve won more than our fair share of close ones and today we came up on the other end of it. You can’t hand your head. You just have to give them credit and tip your hat to them. That’s about as good as we can play.”
Breckenridge rallied from a two-run deficit in the top of the seven when they loaded the bases on singles by Jake Wendorff (2-3, RBI, R), Emmit Vig (2-3) and Hunter Feigum (1-4). The lead was trimmed to one run when Wendorff scored on a wild pitch, however, Post 53 couldn’t score the other runners ending the game.
Mitch Porter (1-2, BB, RBI, R) and Jeremy Stack (1-4, R) also contributed at the plate. Porter (4IP, 8H, 3R, 1K) took the loss for Breckenridge. Connor Twidwell (1.1IP, 1H, 2BB, 1R, 2K) and Carter Haugen (.2IP, 1BB, 1K) also pitched in the game.
