The Fergus Falls 12U Maroon team finished their season with four games against Pelican Rapids. The Otters were able to win 3 of those games.

The first two games were played in Pelican on Saturday. Fergus Falls was able to take advantage of some Pelican wildness and some timely hitting to complete a two game sweep.  The Otters won the first game 21-4 and won game two 19-6.

In game one, the Otters collected 10 hits, were patient at the plate to earn 16 walks.  Brock Scheuerman and Aikhem Bethel led the offensive attack with 3 hits. Carston Fronning collected two hits. Levi King, Luke Pearson, and Cam Wiederich each had one hit apiece. Bethel, Scheuerman, Pearson, and Wiederich all drove in 3 runs apiece.   Scheuerman connected to hit the first home run of the season.

Bethel, Jacob Fronning, Wiederich, and Pearson gave up 4R, 6H, walked 4, and struck out 8.

Game 2 saw the Otters score early and often as they cruised to a 19-6 victory. Wild pitching and timely hitting led to 18 runs in the first 4 innings.  Scheuerman led the 12 hit attack with 3 hits. Bethel, C. Fronning, and Jack Ratz each had 2. Aiden Schake, King, and Jaden Miller had one hit each.  Both Fronning and Scheuerman knocked one out of the park for their first home runs of the season.

Bethel, J. Fronning, Wiederich, Ratz, and Pearson combined to allow 4R, 6H, 4BB, and 8K with Bethel earning the win.

The Otters’ only loss came in game one of Wednesday’s doubleheader. Fergus held a 4-1 lead, but gave up 4 runs in the 5th inning and 2 more in the 6th to lose a highly contested 7-4 game. The Otters could only muster 2 hits in the game as Pelican’s Charlie Larson threw a complete game to earn the win. C. Fronning and Parker Thielke were the only Otters to have a hit.

Bethel, C. Fronning and Thielke battled on the mound for the Otters.

Wednesday’s game 2 had a much more favorable outcome as the Maroon team ended their season with a 20-1 victory.   The Otters pounded out 11 hits and took advantage of 16 Pelican walks. J. Fronning led the Otters with 4 hits and 5 RBI. Scheuerman hammered out 2 hits while Wiederich, Preston Berge, Ratz, Miller, and Thielke each collected one hit apiece.

Carston and Jacob Fronning combined to shut down the Pelican hitters as they allowed 1R, 2H, 2BB, and struck out 7.
