Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 had another elimination game on Friday in Detroit Lakes, this time facing off with Alexandria in the District playoffs. Post 30 fell just short, 7-5.

Cole Fronning (4.1IP, 10H, 7R, 4ER, 5BB, 6K) started on the mound and took the loss. Jaydon Ollila (1.2IP, 2H, 0R, 1BB, 1K) finished up on the mound and threw well in relief.

Fergus Falls had 12 hits in the game with Nathan Zierden and Brock Kotschevar each contributing 3 hits. Austin Stanislawski had 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Post 30 opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning when Kotschevar hit a hard ground ball to bring home Cole Fronning. Alexandria scored 3 runs in both the 3rd and 4th inning to open up a 6-3 lead.

Post 30 answered right back with two runs in the 4th and 5th innings to make the score 6-5 in favor of Alexandria. Alexandria tacked on an insurance run in the 5th to make it 7-5.

Post 30 wouldn’t go quietly as they loaded the bases with two outs in the 7th off of two hits and a hit batsman. Post 30 did everything right but hit a hard hit grounder right to the shortstop to end the game.

“I can’t say enough about the guys heart and determination today,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Trevor Larson. “They fought and battled all game and all tournament long and never gave up. The leadership of Marshall King, Nathan Zierden, J.K Brimhall, and Austin Stanislawski was a huge lift this year. They put the work in as super seniors and it paid off on the field. I’m very proud of all 14 of my ball players. They should be proud and hold their heads high.  I need to thank my assistant coaches Tosten Mann and Peter Gaustad for the work and time they dedicated this season. They were well received and well respected by the players. A huge thank you to the American Legion Post 30 in Fergus Falls. They have been sponsoring and taking care of every need that has arisen. Having their support means everything to the ball club. It is also a huge honor to wear the jerseys with the American Legion Post 30 on them.”

Post 30 finished with a 17-12 record.
