Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 traveled to Detroit Lakes for a win or go home game against Perham on Thursday. The game was scheduled for a 4:00pm start but rain delayed it till 5:00pm.

“The kids came up huge with their best game of the season,” stated Head Coach Trevor Larson.  “Ashwin Stratton (7IP, 3H, 0R, 1BB, 8K) was absolutely fantastic on the mound.”

Nathan Zierden led the offense with two hits. Marshall King also had a hit for Post 30.

The game was scoreless till the third inning when Brock Kotschevar walked and scored on a two out RBI double by Zierden.  Zierden scored to make it 2-0 on a wild throw by Perham.

Perham threatened in the 3rd inning and again in the 5th, but two great double plays helped Post 30 get out of the jams.

“Today was a great win,” said Larson.  “It really was a well-played game, and more specifically a greatly pitched game. Ashwin was the best I have seen him in years. He attacked early with strike one, and didn’t give in to any hitters counts. He was exactly what we needed today in a win or go home situation.”

Post 30 continues district action with another win or go home contest in DL at 1:30pm Friday.  Their opponent will be Alexandria.  Alexandria advanced by beating Bemidji, 4-2.  If Post 30 wins that game they will play another elimination game at 6:30pm.
