Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 traveled to Breckenridge for one 7 inning game. The home team jumped on Post 30 for six runs in the first inning, but the rest of the way was all Fergus Falls.

Mike Maanum (6 1/3IP, 5H, 0R, 1BB, 5K) picked up the win in relief of Jaydon Ollila.

“The offense was great tonight, and it was really spread out 1-9, everyone contributed,” stated Fergus Falls Coach Trevor Larson.

Nathan Zierden, Cole Knudson, and Brock Kotschevar all had three hits apiece. Michael Wiederich has a hit and 4RBI, Marshall King had two hits and two runs.

Breckenridge jumped out to a 6-0 lead on 4 walks and 4 hits. “Mike Maanum came in and threw a heck of a baseball game,” said Coach Larson. “He was controlling his off speed nicely tonight and it was a great compliment to his fastball.”

Post 30 threatened in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings, but failed to push any runs across. Post 30 exploded for a 7 run 5th inning to take the lead. Kotschevar led off with a double that one hopped the fence to left. Knudson, Wiederich, and King all had RBI hits to take the 7-6 lead.

Post 30 completed the comeback by scoring 5 more runs in the 6th to take a 12-6 lead. Austin Stanislawski tripled to right to lead off the inning, Zierden, Knudson, both had RBI hits to take the lead for good.

“What a great effort tonight by all the boys,” noted Larson. “The game could have gotten away from us after being down 6-0 after the first inning. Give the boys credit that they kept having good at bats and played with good energy in the field having no errors in the game. Most of all I am proud of the boys for sticking with it and never giving up.”

Post 30 travels to Perham on Tuesday for games at 5:00pm and 7:00pm.
