The 15U Otters avoided a rain out at Farmers Field on Wednesday night by traveling to Henning to find a dry field and they poured on the runs early and took home the 14-1 victory over the OTC Raptors.

The Otters struck first, putting up 4 runs in the top of the 1st and added 2 more runs in the 2nd and 4th, before the big 6 run 5th inning. Cole Zierden led all hitters going 4 for 5 with a double from his leadoff position in the lineup.  Bailey Culbertson (3 for 4) and Andrew “AJ” Johnson (2 for 4, 2-2B) also had solid performances at the plate. The Otters punched out 15 hits in 5 innings and 9 Otters registered hits in the game: Carter Thielke (1 for 2), Adam King (1 for 3), Sully Krueger (1 for 3), Kaden Conklin (1 for 3), Sam Sorum (1 for 2) and Ben Tollerson (1-2).

The Otters utilized a pitch count approach on the mound with Jonah Sorum (2IP), Sam Sorum (2IP), and Kaden Conklin (1IP), scattering 5H, 2BB, 9K and 1 run over the 5 innings of play.

The Otters wrap up LRBR action on Thursday night in Wheaton before starting post season tournament action in Moorhead this weekend followed by the 15U All Star State Tournament in Albany on July 19th and 20th.

Head Coach Shane Thielke commented on his teams’ performance.  “It is always fun to see multiple kids contribute and tonight was one of those nights.  Cole Zierden always finds a way to get on base, but tonight he really swung the bat well.  Between “Z,” “AJ” and Bailey, we really demonstrated a balanced attack. “Z” leads off, “AJ” hits cleanup, and Bailey hits 9th so top to bottom our lineup was solid.”
