The Otter 12U Gold team used dominate pitching and timely hitting to win two games Tuesday in Sauk Centre. Isaac Ellison and Garret Kuhn-Rice combined to throw a no hitter in game one and the Gold team beat Sauk Centre 6-0. In game two, Levi King and Logan Larson combined to throw a one hit shutout against Browerville for a 4-0 win.

The Otters got on the board first against Sauk Centre when King reached on an error, stole second and came home on an RBI single by Alex Ellison. The Otters upped the lead to 2-0 in the second on a RBI single by Lucas Hanson. That scored Robert Ehlert who was hit by a pitch.

The Otters scored four runs in the third inning to put the game away. Ethan Schwartz led off the inning with a single, King singled and Isaac Iverson walked to load the bases. Larson and Kuhn-Rice each had a run scoring singles and the Otters took advantage of some wild pitches to score a couple of more runs and hold a commanding 6-0 lead.

That was more than enough runs for Isaac Ellison and Kuhn-Rice. Isaac pitched three innings, striking out 7 and allowing no hits. Kuhn-Rice pitched the final two innings of no-hit ball, striking out three.

In game two, the Otters used the same recipe of solid pitching and timely hitting to defeat the Browerville Tigers 4-0. The Otters scored two in the first as Iverson reached on an error and came around to score on a base hit by Larson. Larson stole second and scored on a base hit by Kuhn-Rice for a quick 2-0 first inning lead.

The Otters added a pair of runs without a base hit in the third to take a 4-0 lead. That was all King and Larson needed as they shut the door on the Tigers offense. King pitched four innings, striking out 8 Tiger batters and allowing just the one hit. Larson pitched the final inning, striking out one and sealing the 4-0 victory for the Otter 12U Gold team. While not a lot of balls were put in play, the Otters still played excellent defense, committing only one error in 10 innings. Larson also threw a runner out attempting to steal second base.

The much improved Otter 12U Gold team will be in action this weekend with a tournament in Breckenridge.
