Fergus Falls American Legion Post 30 hosted Wahpeton Post 20 for a single game starting at 6:30pm on Tuesday with Post 30 rallying from a 6-1 deficit to win the game by the score of 7-6.

Brock Kotschevar started on the mound and threw well, 3 1/3IP, 5H, 3R,0ER, 0BB, 2K. Cole Fronning threw great in relief picking up the win and going , 2 1/3 IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, 5K. Ashwin Stratton picked up the save throwing a clean 7th with a strikeout.

Nathan Zierden and Marshall King both had multi-hit games for Post 30. Nic Pearson and Cole Fronning also both had a hit and an RBI.

Post 30 jumped ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the first on three hits, the last being a two out RBI single by Fronning. Post 30 would hold the 1-0 lead until the top of the 4th when Wahpeton Post 20 would put up 6 runs on 3 hits and 3 Fergus Falls errors.

Post 30 would rally for 3 in the bottom of the 5th inning and 3 in the bottom of the 6th to take a 7-6 lead.

“Offensively, that was a pretty clean game, walking 4 times and only striking out 2 times will give you a great chance to win,” stated Fergus Falls Head Coach Trevor Larson. “Unfortunately, our defense let Brock down today. We can’t keep having innings where our errors and walks snowball on us. Single runs against you won’t hurt, the multi run and crooked numbers are the ones that hurt. It was great to see the boys respond after being down 6-1 and never giving up.”

Post 30 improves to 8-6 on the year. Post 30 returns to action at home July 9 vs Detroit Lakes with a double header starting at 5:00pm.
