The Fergus Falls Hurricanes rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday to overcome an early 4-0 deficit and record a 6-4 win over the Moorhead Mudcats at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.

Moorhead struck quickly in the game, scoring four first inning runs.  Three consecutive ‘Canes errors allowed two runs to score, while the other two scored on a passed ball and a sacrifice fly.

Fergus Falls came up with a pair of second inning runs to cut the lead to 4-2.  Dan Revering, Pete Gaustad and Jake Anderson all singled to load the bases.  An errant throw home on a ground ball allowed Revering to score and a ground out by Sean McGuire brought Gaustad home.  The Hurricanes trimmed the lead to 4-3 with a run in the fourth.  Anderson reached on an error, moved to second on a base hit by Alex Hexum, took third on a sacrifice bunt by Jack Hiedeman and scored on a ground out by McGuire.

The 3-run eighth inning rally started with a lead-off walk to Gaustad.  Pete moved to third on a pair of wild pitches.  Anderson drew a walk and after a strikeout, Hiedeman reached on an error with Gaustad scoring to tie the game at 4-4.  McGuire singled to knock in Anderson and move Hiedeman to third base.  McGuire then stole second base and the throw from the catcher went into center field, allowing Hiedeman to score.

Hiedeman (3IP, 3K, 2BB, 1H, 0R) got the win in relief of Eric Salvesen (6IP, 4K, 5BB, 4H, 4R, 0ER).  The ‘Canes were led at the plate by McGuire (2-5, 2B, 3RBI,2 SB), Gaustad (1-2, 2R, 2BB) and Anderson (1-3, BB, 2R).

Fergus Falls is now 11-4 overall and will host the Moorhead Brewers on Wednesday at 7:30pm.
