Fergus Falls High School and M State grad Chris Swenson, who will be a senior at Bemidji State University this fall, will play in a Monday Qualifier for the 3M Open which will be held at TPC Minneapolis July 4-7.

Swenson advanced by placing seventh in a pre-qualifier on Thursday at Victory Links in Blaine.  He fired a 68, recording four birdies in his round and just one bogey.  Swenson was in competition with 168 golfers and will be battling a field of 170 golfers on Monday for five qualifying spots in the PGA sponsored professional event.  The field will be mixed with professional and amateur golfers, all vying for a chance to advance to the tournament field on Thursday.

Chris has had a busy summer on the golf course and it looks to get even busier.  Earlier this summer he played in the Minnesota Players Championship, advancing to the round of sixteen before being eliminated.  He also won a qualifying event at the Pines in Brainerd which landed him a spot in the upcoming Minnesota State Open at Rush Creek Golf Course in Blaine and won a playoff which qualified him as the first alternate for the Minnesota State Amateur Tournament at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids later in July.
