Thomas Bosek (6IP, 6K, 3BB, 5H, 1R, 0ER) improved his record to 4-0 on the mound and the Fergus Falls Hurricanes ran their record to 10-3 with a 5-2 win over the Perham Pirates on Friday night at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls.
Perham scored a run in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. Roo Schmitz reached on an infield single and Josh Bollig walked to start things off. Both were moved up on a sacrifice bunt by Nick Lindberg and Schmitz came across the plate on a fielding error.
The Hurricanes grabbed a 2-1 lead in the third when Alex Hexum led off with a double, moved to third on a fly ball out and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jack Hiedeman. Sean McGuire followed with a double and scored on a single by Dan Revering.
Fergus Falls added a run in the fifth on a single by Jake Anderson, a stolen base, an error and a base hit by McGuire.
The ‘Canes made it 5-1 in the sixth. Darin Stanislawski and Tosten Mann both walked to lead off the inning and moved up on a ground out. Pete Gaustad doubled home Stanislawski and Mann scored on a ground out by Hexum.
Perham closed the scoring with a seventh inning run off reliever Dan Revering. Josh Still reached on a swinging third strike wild pitch and took third on a base hit by Gavin Biegler. Dylan Perrine walked to load the bases and Still scored on a sacrifice fly by Schmitz. Bollig walked to reload the bases, but a strikeout ended the game.
McGuire (2-3, 2B, R, RBI), Gaustad (1-3, 2B, RBI) and Hexum (1-3, 2B, R, RBI) led the Hurricanes at the plate.
Perham was led by Biegler (2-4). Lindberg (4IP, 3K, 0BB, 3H, 2R, 2ER) was the losing pitcher.
Fergus Falls is now 6-1 in Countryside League play. They will host the Bluffton Braves at noon on Saturday, June 29 in their next game.
