The Cardinals defeated the Mariners 3-2 on Thursday night in Ashby to claim the PRBA Little League title, finishing the season with an 11-1 record and an 11 game winning streak.

The game started with a long home run off the bat of Easton Nelson leading off the top of the first inning.  The Mariners added a second run on a double by Ben Bye, a ground out and a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the first Sam Hanson launched a long home run to right field to get the Cardinals on the board.  They tied the game when Will Rustan scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cooper Hanson in the bottom of the second.

The winning run crossed the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Cadence Heilman reached on a one-out single, took second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a double by Marshall Dewey.  Dewey pitched two innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory.

In the third place game the Rays posted a 16-4 win over the Mets.

The Rockies nipped the Pirates 8-7 in the fifth place game and a suicide squeeze bunt led to the winning run for the Orioles in their 6-5 win in the seventh place game.

The PRBA Little League is comprised of 109 kids ages 9-12 from ten different communities around the area.  It is celebrating its tenth year in 2010.
