Breckenridge American Legion Post 53 picked up their 4th win in a row defeating the Fargo Bombers 10-0 in 5 innings in the first round of the Wahpeton Invitational at John Randall Field in Wahpeton.

“We played as close to a perfect game as you can play tonight,” said Breckenridge Head Coach Kevin Hiedeman. “Mitch Porter and Jake Wendorff combined to throw a no hitter, our defense did not make an error. The only Bomber base runner came on a 3-2 walk. Hayden Schuler and Hunter Feigum both made great plays defensively. 8 of our 9 starters picked up hits - Feigum and Schuler each had 2 hits, Jeremy Stack, Brayden Wahl, Mitch Porter, Tommy Hiedeman, and Ty Piechowski each had a hit in the game. But the most impressive thing we did tonight was run the bases. We had 9 stolen bases in 5 innings. The Bombers had no answer for our speed and aggressiveness on the base paths. As a coach and as a fan, you have to enjoy these moments. When a team is playing like they played tonight, they are really fun to watch.”

Post 53 plays Dodge Center at 5:00pm Saturday in the second round.
