Top-seeded BOLD, Olivia (20-5) captured the 2019 MSHSL Class A Baseball Tournament championship with an 8-0 win over #2 New York Mills (21-5) on Thursday morning at Target Field.

The Warriors received a championship performance from junior right handed starting pitcher Jordan Sagedahl, who carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before surrendering a leadoff single to end the no-hit bid. Sagedahl struck out nine and walked three, striking out the final batter for the dramatic shutout finish. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate out of the third spot in the lineup including a fifth inning leadoff inside-the-park home run to right centerfield to give the Warriors a 2-0 lead.

Despite the 8-run final margin of victory, the game was tight through the early and middle innings. New York Mills junior starting pitcher Caden Mills held BOLD scoreless through three innings, forcing the Warriors to leave a runner in scoring position in each of the first three frames. In the fourth, BOLD finally pushed a run across against the Eagles with junior pinch hitter Blake Flann lining a one out double down the left field line to score sophomore courtesy runner Avery Herdina for the game's first lead. Herdina ran for sophomore catcher Aiden Elfering, who went 1-for-2 with a walk in the game and led off the inning with a single to right center. BOLD added six insurance runs for Sagedahl in the sixth inning with senior pinch hitter Jake Evenson delivering a 2-run single in the inning. In the inning, senior leadoff hitter Luke Ryan singled in the first run of the inning and stole second. He entered the state tournament with 107 career stolen bases, furthering padding his total.

For the Eagles, it was sophomore designated hitter Abe Carlson who broke up the no hitter and finished 1-for-3. Caden Roberts took the loss for New York Mills, allowing four runs across 5.1 innings with a pair of strikeouts.
