The Fergus Falls Otters 10u baseball team split with the West Fargo 10u Rattlers on Wednesday, winning the first game 11-7 and dropping the second game 12-3.

In the first game, West Fargo jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first. The Otters responded by scratching one run across the plate when Caleb Fronning singled and scored. West Fargo responded by scoring another run in the top of the second to make it 6-1 after two innings. The Otters started clawing their way back in the third with Fronning and Brody Krein walking and scoring and Nolan Felstul and Tanner Donaghue getting hit by pitches and scoring. Down 6-5 after 3, the Otters came back and took the lead in the bottom of the fourth with Easton Hanson, Josh Horgen, Felstul, Krein (2b), Jenc, and Donaghue all getting hits and coming around to score. John Abrahams also doubled for the Otters in the game.

Krein started on the bump for the Otters and pitched 5 strong innings and Horgen closed the door in the sixth.

In the second game, the Otters had plenty of scoring chances but couldn’t find a big inning. Krein had two hits (1b and 2b) and scored, Jenc singled, Kellen Funkhouser, singled and scored, Fronning doubled, and Horgen singled for the Otters in the game. Horgen and Fronning pitched for the Otters and pitched well against a very good hitting West Fargo team.

“I am proud of how the young Otters came from behind in game one to win against a very good West Fargo team. West Fargo came in with a very impressive 23-1 record and the Otters competed in both games and were able to give West Fargo their second loss on the season,” said coach Chad Felstul.

With the split, the Otters move to 16-3 on the year and travel to Breckenridge on Monday, June 24 for a doubleheader.
