MSHSL Class AA State Girls Golf Tournament Final Results

Greta Christenson ended her Fergus Falls Otter Golf career in style parring her last hole of the 2019 Class AA State Girls Golf Tournament at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, improving on her day 1 score of 91 by breaking 90 on Wednesday, posting an 88 and giving her a two-day total of 179, placing her in a tie for 32nd place. 

“Greta is everything every coach wants in an athlete,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “She has great work ethic, she is honest and plays with integrity, and lastly she has grit! Her passion for the game of golf was evident in every hole she played at the state tournament and the Otter Team could not be more proud of her and all her accomplishments.  Greta is the perfect role model for her teammates and our young Otters who will be following in her footsteps.  Congratulations Greta!”

Red Wing won the team title with a 646 and Minnewaska Area/BBE was runner-up with a 647.  Third place went to Detroit Lakes with a 662.  They were followed by Jordan at 698, International Falls at 735, Visitation at 751, Albany at 773 and Providence Academy at 797.

Red Wing golfer Sophia Yoemans was the individual champion with a 138 (69-69).

Perham freshman Mallory Belka tied for sixteenth place with a 164 (85-79) and senior Allie King of the Yellowjackets tied for 61st place with a 192 (98-94).

Here are the two-day totals for the Detroit Lakes golfers: Anna Cihak 152 (75-77), Shelby Busker 158 (78-80), McKenna Mallow 168 (77-91), McKenna Burhans 187 (98-89), Hanna Knoop 195 (102-93) and Evan Westrom 196 (95-101).
