The Minnewaska Area Lakers hold the lead after the first day of the MSHSL Girls AA State Golf Championship at Ridges at Sand Creek with a score of 313.  Red Wing is second with a 319, followed by Detroit Lakes (325), Jordan (351), International Falls (357), Visitation (376), Albany (383) and Providence Academy (399).

Greta Christenson of Fergus Falls posted a 91 and is currently in 42nd place out of 88 golfers.

“Like all golfers regardless of what you shoot you wish it was lower,” said Head Coach Ben Jurgens of the Otters.  “Greta made sure she stayed competitive and enjoyed the day 1 experience.  She has set a goal of breaking 90 in day two.  Our hope is she can climb the leaderboard tomorrow and end her high school golf career on a high note.  To be honest regardless of what she shoots day 2 her career will be a success.  She works as hard as any golfer I have coached.”

Red Wing senior Sophia Yoemans is the leader after round one with a 69.

Anna Cihak led the Lakers with a 75 and is in fourth place.  Other Laker scores include a 77 from McKenna Mallow, a 78 from Shelby Busker and a 95 from Evan Westrom.

Perham freshman Mallory Belka fired an 85 (22nd) and senior Allie King is 65th after shooting a 98 on Tuesday.
