The Fergus Falls 15U Babe Ruth baseball team earned a pair of wins in the last week, beating Moorhead II by a score of 13-2 last Thursday night and winning 7-4 over Parkers Prairie on Monday.

The Otters jumped to an early 3 run lead in the top of the first and never looked back posting 13 runs in 5 innings.  Moorhead mounted a late rally but could not put enough together to overcome the 11 run deficit, ending the game in 5 innings.

Cole Zierden, Andrew Johnson, and Adam King each took a turn on the mound, allowing only 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3 Spuds over 5 combined innings.

At the plate the Otters pounded out 11 hits with Taeren Holdeman (2-3) and Jonah Sorum (2-3) leading the way with 2 hits apiece.  Adding hits for the Otters were Zierden (1-2), Carter Thielke (1-2), Justis Sagerhorn (1-1), Sully Krueger (1-2), King (1-4), Kaden Conklin (1-2) and Sam Sorum (1-2).

On a nearly perfect Monday evening at Legion Field the Otters 15U baseball team continued their winning ways overcoming an early 2 run deficit, posting a 7-4 win over a salty Parkers Prairie baseball team.

Parkers Prairie got on the board first, mounting a 2 out rally with some timely hitting, scoring 2 runs in the top of the first.  Ben Tollerson toed the rubber for the Otters, getting two quick outs, before back-to back doubles and a sharp single plated 2 runs for the visitors in the early frame.  What looked like to be a 4th straight hit and a deep early deficit was ended when Jonah Sorum made a highlight reel diving catch in shallow left field, ending the threat. A couple of scoreless frames had the Otters down by 2 in the bottom of the second when the Otter battery pounded out 5 hits and took advantage of a few Parkers Prairie miscues and when the dust settled, the home team took a 6-2 lead.   J. Sorum, Kaden Conklin, Tollerson, Sully Krueger and Carter Thielke all notched hits in the inning, providing some breathing room in the middle innings. Tollerson then settled in on the mound and kept the visitors in check, limiting opportunities and commanding his way through 5 and 1/3 innings, allowing only 2 more runs before giving way to Sam Sorum. Sorum had what Coach David Sagerhon considered to be "his best outing" of the early season, shutting down a potent Parkers Prairie lineup, striking out 4 of the 8 batters he faced, securing the 7-4 win.

Leaders at the plate were Thielke (3-4, 2 RBI) and Tollerson (2-3, RBI), with Krueger, J. Sorum, Holdeman, and Conklin all adding one hit apiece.

Otter Coach Shane Thielke was proud of the team effort.  “It was a true team win tonight. Parkers Prairie came out and battled and we needed to earn this one.  They always bring a solid ball club and tonight was no different. I was really proud of our pitching and our kids strung together a few hits at the right time.”

The 15U Otters improve to 4-1 overall and 4-0 in Lake Region Babe Ruth (LRBR) and will head to Detroit Lakes to take on the Lakers on Thursday night.
