M State shot their lowest score of the week with a 309, but Sandhills Community College fired a 293, the low round of the tournament by eleven shots, to open a big lead after day three of the NJCAA Division III National Championship at Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, New York.  Georgia Militay shot 305, 11 off the lead and 3 ahead of M State.

The Spartans carded four rounds in the 70’s, led by Blake Bloedorn with a 74.  His three day total of 227 puts him third individually.  Trey Capps of Sandhills shot the low round of the tourney, a 70, and is the individual leader with a 3-day total of 220.  Dusty Watts of Georgia Military also shot 70 and is second individually with a 3-day total of 222.

The Spartans Wyatt Blomseth shot a 77, while Carter Justesen and Hunter Moen each put up a 79.

“Today was the opposite of yesterday in that we struggled early but really fought hard to come back with a solid score,” said Spartan Coach Jason Retzlaff.  “Normally we would be in great shape with four scores in the 70’s, but Sandhills played spectacular today.  Their score of 293 is just an incredible day of golf. Friday we need to have our best round and get some help.  We still feel we haven’t peaked in this tournament and hopefully Friday in the day if it happens.”
