The Baseball season ended for the Brandon-Evansville Chargers on Tuesday with a 7-1 loss to Upsala/Swanville Area in the Section 6A playoffs.

USA scored three runs in the top of the first inning when Haden Chubs led off the game getting hit by a pitch and Levi Lampert walked.  Gavin Koetter then doubled to left field scoring two runs and later scored on Nathan Graves sacrifice fly, giving the Patriots an early 3-0 lead.

USA added another run in the second inning when Chubs singled and later scored on an RBI hit by Jackson Theischafer.

The Chargers offense struggle to get on track against Levi Lampert.  The right hander only allowed three hits over four innings of work while striking out six and not walking a batter.  “We just couldn’t get things rolling on offense today and the Patriots defense didn’t give us any extra opportunities as they played errorless ball,” said B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.

“Although this loss ends our season, we were happy with the efforts of our kids,” noted Perleberg.  “Zack Haugen came on in relief in the top of the 2nd inning and gave us five great innings on the mound.  Gaven Jacobson, Marshall Riedel, and Tanner Bitzan turned in some dandy plays on the infield while Jesse Perleberg had a fantastic diving catch in  the outfield and our catcher, Tyler Bitzan, threw out two base runners, so we felt that we did plenty of things well,  but just couldn’t put together much on offense. I’d like to thank Gaven Jacbson, our only senior, for his dedicated effort to the program and would like to congratulate him on an excellent senior season.  He has really developed into a solid baseball player.”

Offensively the Chargers were led by Jesse Perleberg (2 for 3), Marshall Riedel (1 for 3, 2B, run) and Keagan Schiele (1 for 3).
