FF 14U Softball Teams Splits Twin Bill with Grand Forks

The Fergus Falls 14U fastpitch softball team opened up the summer season by traveling to Fargo Monday night for a twin bill against Grand Forks and came away with a split, losing game 1 by the score of 13 - 10 and winning the second one by the score of 8 - 5.

Pitcher Rylynn Krein breezed thru the first 3 innings with 7 strikeouts with only two batters reaching base. With Fergus Falls leading 6 – 0 heading to the bottom of the 4th Grand Forks broke the game open, scoring 10 runs by the aid of 7 walks, a hit batter and 4 hits.

The final score was 13 - 10 Grand Forks after 5 innings because of the 1 1/2 hour time limit. Offensive Leaders were Kacey Fredrickson (1 for 2, R, 2B, BB, 2RBI) and Caitlin Adkins (1 for 2, R, SB, RBI). Skye Norgren, Grace Rollag and McKenzie Sjolie each drove in a run.  Krein (5IP, 7H, 13R, 9ER, 9BB, 11K) took the loss.

In game 2 Fergus had all of the runs that they needed after the first 2 innings as they built an 8-2 lead.  Starting pitcher Kacey Fredrickson (5IP, 2H, 5R, 2ER, 3BB, 6K) had good control on the mound and her defense made the plays behind her. Fredrickson went 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, a walk and two runs scored.  Krein was 1-for-2 with a run scored and three runs batted in.  Other RBI hits came from Adkins, Macie Becker and Kendall Hanson.

The 14U's next game will be next Monday as they will travel to Mickelson Park in Fargo to take on Mayville in another twin bill.
