Barnesville Girls Win 8A Team Title, Qualify Two for State

Barnesville won the Section 8A girls track and field team title on Saturday with 59 points, edging out second place Park Rapids Area (58.5) and third place East Grand Forks (57.5).  Crookston was fourth with 56 points and United Clay-Becker finished fifth with 53 points.  The Trojans also qualified two girls for the state meet.

Samantha Passa was second in the triple jump (35-01.00) and Jordan Tschumperlin qualified by meeting the state standard by clearing 5-feet-2-inches in the high jump, placing third.

Pelican Rapids had Tatianna Wiley qualify as champion in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.37 and the Vikings 4 x 400 relay team of Maddie Guler, Abby Syverson, Anna Stephenson and Chloe Paulson also qualified as winners in their event with a time of 4:05.21.

The Vikings are also sending senior Eli Sytsma who took second place in the triple jump (41-09.00).

D-G-F won the team title in the boys’ competition with 114 points, well ahead of second place Park Rapids Area (60.5) and third place East Grand Forks (57.5).  Ada-Borup was fourth with 53 points and Frazee claimed fifth with 45 points.
