The Fergus Falls Hurricanes posted a 2-1 victory over the Starbuck Stars in the opening round of the Mike Johnson Memorial Tournament on Friday at Chizek Field in Morris.

Winning pitcher Darin Stanislawski pitched a complete game, striking out eleven batters in his seven innings of work, walking two and allowing only two hits.

Colin Richards (6IP, 12K, 3BB, 6H, 2R, 1ER) took the loss for the Stars.

Starbuck struck for the first run when Michael Gruber led off the game with a walk, stole second base and scored on a two-out single by Mike Andreas.

The Hurricanes scored their two runs in the fourth inning.  Alex Hensch walked to lead off the inning, stole second, but after a strikeout he was caught stealing third base.  Jake Anderson and Jack Hiedeman then came through with singles and Dan Revering walked to load the bases.  A walk to Sean McGuire forced in a run and a passed ball led to another run.

Thomas Bosek (2-3, SB) and Jack Hiedeman (2-3, R) led the Hurricanes at the plate.

Fergus Falls will take on the Morris Eagles, 2-1 winners over Chokio, at 3:30pm Saturday.
