“This was a fun opportunity to see these two athletes compete with teams from the metro area,” said Head Girls Coach Niki Welde. “Aspen raced a great mile, at times leading the event. She placed 2nd overall with a time of 5:49.71. She did a quick turn-around in the 800 and finished third there with a time of 2:41.56. With a middle school schedule she was not afforded a lot of rest time but pushed at the finish to close the gap with the girl ahead of her.”
Shane Zierden Competed in the Long and Triple jump placing 4th with a 16-10 long jump, and a 2nd place triple of 34-8. Shane also ran in the mile, placing 2nd with a time of 5:27.91, coming from third with a strong sprint in the last 100 to nip his competition at the line.
