10U Otters Sweep Breckenridge

The 10u Otters hosted Breckenridge on Monday, May 20 and swept the Cowboys in a baseball doubleheader 16-2 and 16-5.

In the first game, the young Otters jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first with Nolan Felstul, Brody Krein, Luke Johnson, Kellen Funkhouser, and Jacob Jenc all scored. In the second, Kadyn Zender walked and came around to score. The Otters tacked on 4 more runs in the third with Johnson, Funkhouser, Jenc, and John Abrahams all scoring. The Otters wrapped up the scoring and put the game away in the bottom of the 4th with Benett Thielke, Josh Horgen, Caleb Fronning, Felstul, Krein, and Johnson scoring. Zender started on the bump for the Otters and held the Cowboys scoreless for the first two innings and then Thielke and Jenc closed the door for the win.

In the second game of the twin bill, the Otters jumped out to a 2-0 lead after two innings with Fronning and Jenc scoring. The Cowboys fought back with three runs in the top of the third. The Otters responded in a big way by scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the third and never relinquished the lead. Thielke, Horgen, Fronning, Felstul, Johnson, Tanner Donaghue, and Funkhouser all scored in the third. The Otters finished the scoring in the bottom of the fourth with 7 more runs with Levi Budke, Zender, Thielke, Horgen, Fronning, Felstul, and Donaghue scoring. Fronning, started the game for the Otters on the hill and struck out 5 in two innings of work. Jenc, Funkhouser, and Thielke held the Cowboys in check for the rest of the game.

Hitting leaders for the Otters in the two games were Jenc (3-5 with a double), Johnson (4-5), Horgen (3-4), Thielke (2-3), Felstul (2-4), Funkhouser (1-4), and Fronning with his second home run of the year.

With the two wins, the 10u Otters improve to 5-1.
